BDSM Easter

Easter is a wonderful time of year. It is marked by an anthropomorphized rabbit that brings chocolate and pastel colored eggs to all of the little Christian boys and girls of the world. Easter also has something vaguely to do with Jesus.

Easter is basically the ultimate BDSM holiday for Christians. They get to watch (or imagine) Jesus getting whipped almost to death. Then He has to drag the cross upon which He will be tied and left to die upon up a hill, where it will be planted in the ground, and He gets tied up on it. Then He suffers for Your (oops, sorry “you” ain’t important enough to be capitalized!) sins for many steadfast hours. In the end he chickens out (it would take much longer for a human to die under such circumstances — such was the nature of Roman crucifixion) and commends his spirit back to his Dad. A couple of days later (three, supposedly — the whole Good Friday thing is badly interpreted) he lumbers around, and shows a few (hundred?) friends his nail wounds.

After thousands of years, people still are awed by “stigmata” (which, by the way, is an awesome song).

BDSM Date Link

Sorry I have not made a lot of posts lately, I am still working on the BDSM tutorials I will be sharing on this blog, and I have been collecting tons of material to make those tutorials the best ones available, from basic knots (like the ones I have already explained here – but with pictures and VIDEOS) to suspension (OUT DOORS).

I am sure you guys will not regret for waiting to see this awesome material published here (EXCLUSIVELY!!)

Another thing I have been doing a lot lately is trying to find some partner on BDSM Date Link. BDSM Date Link is a dating site (as you can note by the name) focused on BDSM dating (as you can not by the name). There are over 3000 members on that site, so I think it is worth checking it out.

How BDSM Date Link works? You can join it for free but to take advantage of all features from the site you will need to pay a membership fee:

  • 1 month $25.86

I hope you guys had a great Xmas and New Years Eve.

I expect to make a few more posts very soon, so stay tuned!!

The Most Basic Rope Bondage Knots

The larks head: This is not really a knot, but it is very useful as a base for other bindings.
How to make the larks head: Double up the rope and pass both of its ends inside the loop so formed.

The reef (or square) knot: This is the most commonly used knot. Not used for tying somebody directly, but for fastening other bindings.
How to make the reef (or square) knot:
Twist one rope over the other and then twist back, forming two interlaced loops;
This, as most knots, works because the rope passes twice by the same loop in opposite directions, and both segments are pressed one against the other when the loop tightens;
So, note the rope that leaves the lower twist on the upper side enters the upper twist also over the other rope;
Tighten by pulling by the loose ends (as already stated before);

Be careful not to finish just with two twisted ropes (by entering the upper twist under the other rope), not a knot, which is sometimes called “granny’s knot”.

I will post some pictures of those knots so it will be easier to understand how to make them!

Types of Rope

For bondage games, there are two main types of ropes, twisted and braided.Twisted ropes are the traditional ones, made for centuries along history. This type of rope is made of long fibers and most of them are made with synthetic material. Braided rope is usually made of a soft braided skin over a core of untwisted or twisted fibers. The materials on the cover and the core can be similar or different.

Main Types of Rope:
Nylon is great general-purpose rope. It is pretty and slick – easy to untie and comfortable but be careful because it is soft and knots can collapse. It’s strong, it wears well, but is vulnerable to abrasion, chemicals and sunlight. The ends of cut nylon rope can be prevented from unraveling by heat sealing. Braider rope is easier and smoother; twisted rope kinks up more and tangles more.

Polypropylene is too stiff and hard to work with – NOT SUITABLE FOR BONDAGE!

Cotton rope is hard to find. This rope is in a different category form the other ropes made with natural fibers. It is the only one that is not rough on the skin. It comes twisted and after washing it becomes soft. This type of rope is good for bondage, especially if the bondage will be long-term.

Parachute rope is cheap, strong, colorful and good for detail work like Cock/Ball Torture (CBT).

Traditional hemp rope, manila, coir, sisal, and jute is attractive to some people for its rugged look but its scratchy and uncomfortable feel. It tightens when wet, is more difficult to work because it is harder to untie. It is weaker because it is susceptible to rot.

Climbing rope is expensive but pretty. It is too too thick for wrists but great for harnesses and excellent for suspension.

General Rope Bondage Safety Issues

  1. Make sure you can get your bottom out of bondage fast. Using shorter ropes or quick release knots helps, you also need to have safety scissors around.
  2. Never leave the bottom is alone when she/he is tied or gagged.
  3. Do not to cause too much strain on joints – wrists, elbows, lower back, knees, hips.
  4. Watch out for constriction of nerves and blood vessels. Be alert and communicate with the botom. Look for tingling, numbness, abnormal color, coldness in extremities. Check sides and undersides of tied wrists, above and below tied elbows, tied armpits, or arms compressed against body and groin.
  5. Distribute pressure using multiple coils.
  6. Make sure can fit one finger between bonds and skin. Also remember that body parts may swell.
  7. NEVER tie rope around the neck!
  8. Rope can be cause burns by coarseness of the rope, speed of application (or taking it off) or tightness.

Remember that removing rope is also part of the game and is just as much fun as putting it on.

Rope Bondage Basic Information

Bondage can be used to restrain a bottom while the top does something else to the bottom or elsewhere. It enhances submission allowing the bottom to let go and get into head space of vulnerability and exposure. It can make the bottom immobile or uncomfortable. Bondage is also used as art to sculpt a bottom in an attractive and erotic manner in order to display and photograph him/her.

Rope is most versatile. It is fluid and for that, the size doesn’t matter. It is also most easily obtainable and one of the cheapest toys available. Once you have learned a few simple knots you can easily be a master. Rope is aesthetically pleasing and provides a challenge to the top to create rather than purchase.

Ropes can be found almost anywhere, but of of the best places to get them are sailboat shops. Nowadays sailboats use many kinds of rope, most of them are synthetic ropes.

Distinction between S&M, BDSM and D/s

Sadists enjoy inflicting pain; this may or may not be sexual in nature. Masochists enjoy receiving pain, which again may or may not be sexual. The simple desire for pain is technically known as algolagnia.

BDSM is a short-hand abbreviation for many subdivisions of the culture: B&D (bondage and discipline), D/s (domination and submission), S&M (sadism and masochism).

Dominance and submission is control over another or being controlled by another, respectively. Typically describes a relationship power dynamic rather than a set of acts, and may or may not involve sadomasochism. Bondage and discipline describes a set of acts that sometimes involve D/s or S&M; although discipline often implies a level of suffering (real or pretend), participants may stop short of causing actual pain.

Masochist (Masochism)

Masochist is a person who has the tendency to derive pleasure, especially sexual pleasure, from one’s own pain or humiliation. The term is derived from the name of Leopold Ritter von Sacher-Masoch (January 27, 1836 – March 9, 1895) an Austrian writer and journalist, who gained renown at his time for his stories of Galician life and romantic novels, and who described it very well in his novels.

During his life, Sacher-Masoch was well-known as a man of letters, who was seen by some as a potential successor to Goethe and was often compared to Turgenev. He was a utopian thinker who espoused socialist and humanist ideals in his fiction and non-fiction. Most of his works remain untranslated in English; the novel Venus in Furs is his only book commonly available in English.

Venus in Furs is probably his best known work, a romantic tale which has at its heart a sado/masochistic relationship. This novel was part of an epic series he envisioned called The Heritage of Cain, which was to have had six parts, each made up of several stories:

The six parts were to be LOVE (Prologue: The Wanderer; 1.Don Juan of Kolomea; 2.The Man Who Re-Enlisted; 3.Moonlight; 4.Venus in Furs; 5.Plato’s Love; 6.Marcella), PROPERTY (1.People’s Court; 2.Haidamaka; 3.Hasara Raba; 4.A Testament; 5.Basil Hymen; 6.The Paradise on the Dniester), STATE (1.Ilau), WAR, WORK (The Old Castellan), DEATH (1.Frau von Soldan; 2.The Jewish Raphael; 3.The Godmother; Epilogue: The Night Before Christmas [not written]).

Venus in Furs was 4th part of Love and was first published in 1869. The novel drew heavily on Sacher-Masoch’s own life. The real-life model for the book’s main female character (Wanda) was a woman named Fanny Pistor. This lady first contacted Sacher-Masoch, then emerging as a new literary talent, for suggestions on her own chances for publication but an intense relationship quickly followed.

On December 8, 1869 Leopold and Fanny signed a contract making Leopold von Sacher-Masoch the slave of Fanny Pistor for a period of six months, with the stipulation, doubtlessly at Sacher-Masoch’s suggestion, that the Baroness wear furs as often as possible, especially when she was in a cruel mood.

Sacher-Masoch was given the alias of Severin, and disguised as the servant of Fanny, they traveled by train to Italy, living their mistress/slave roles. As with the character in his novel, Sacher-Masoch traveled in the third class compartment while his mistress had a seat in first class, arriving in Venice (Florence, in the novel), where they were not known and would not arouse suspicion. Venus in Furs takes threads from Sacher-Masoch‘s own life and weaves them into a dark sexual myth. He was a romantic, a poet of the perverse, and not really understood either in his own time or since.

Sadist (Sadism)

Sadist is a person who derives pleasure, especially sexual gratification, from inflicting pain, suffering or humiliation on others. The term is derived from the name of Donatien Alphonse François de Sade, compte de Sade, also known as the Marquis de Sade (June 2, 1740 – December 2, 1814).

This 18th century French soldier and writer had his career interrupted by long periods of imprisonment for cruelty and debauchery. While in prison he wrote several sexually explicit works which explored the darker side of sexuality.

Marquis de Sade was born in Paris in June 2, 1740 to a noble family and fought in the French army during the Seven Years’ War. In 1772 he was tried and sentenced to death for a series of sexual crimes. He escaped to Italy, but on his return to Paris in 1777 he was arrested and imprisoned at Vincennes. After six years at Vincennes he was removed to the Bastille and in 1789 to the Charenton lunatic asylum. He was released from the asylum in 1790 but arrested again in 1801. For the rest of his life he was moved from prison to prison and in 1803 again incarcerated at Charenton, where he died in 1814.

In many of his writings, which include The Crimes of Love, Juliette and Philosophy in the Bedroom, Marquis de Sade described in great detail some of the extreme and sometimes cruel sexual activities that he himself practiced.

The term sadism, originally used by psychiatrists to denote what they consider a neurosis wherein sexual satisfaction is gained by the infliction of pain on others, was derived from his name. In de Sade’s philosophy, both criminal and sexually deviant acts are regarded as natural. His works were condemned as obscene and their publication was banned well into the 20th century. They are more freely available now, so you can decide for yourself whether de Marquis de Sade was a persecuted surrealist before the term was fashionable or just cruel and crazy.

Sadomasochism

Sadomasochism refers to sexual or non-sexual gratification in the infliction of pain or humiliation upon or by another person.

Often interrelated, the practices are collectively known as S&M. These terms usually refer to consensual practices within the BDSM community.
